About the Charity

The Breese Dog Park

In 2023 a group of people recognized the need for Breese to have a dog park. They banded together and formed a committee of people passionate about dogs and having a place to safely play.

Through determination and grit they have kept that vision alive and are tirelessly working to raise the funds for our very own community dog park! I for one and so excited to see this happen!

This year we are donating all of the proceeds from Pooch Playoffs to Breese Community Dog Park.

Follow the Breese Dog Park Facebook page for other fun activities and updates on progress to our community dog park.

I also wanted to take a moment to highlight a Facebook post that the Breese Dog Park made about the importance of a dog park in our community.

"In recent years, communities around the world have recognized the immense value of establishing dedicated spaces for our four-legged friends - the beloved dog parks. These fenced, off-leash areas are much more than just recreational spots for canines. They bring a multitude of benefits that positively impact both dogs and their human companions.

Socialization and Exercise
A dog park fosters an environment where dogs can socialize freely with one another. Interaction with other dogs promotes healthy behavior, boosts confidence, and enhances their social skills. Moreover, the open space encourages dogs to exercise and burn off excess energy, which is crucial for their physical well-being and mental stimulation. Regular exercise helps reduce the risk of obesity and other related health issues, leading to a healthier, happier, and more well-behaved canine companion.

Community Building
A dog park acts as a gathering spot for dog owners and enthusiasts, creating a sense of community among like-minded individuals. It provides an opportunity for pet owners to exchange valuable information, share experiences, and even arrange playdates for their furry friends. Such connections can strengthen community bonds and improve neighborly relations, ultimately enhancing the overall social fabric of the area.

Mental Health Benefits
The companionship of dogs has been proven to have positive effects on human mental health. Dog owners often find solace in their pets, and the presence of a dog park amplifies these benefits. Interacting with dogs, even if you don't own one, can reduce stress, anxiety, and feelings of loneliness. Frequent visits to a dog park offer an excellent way to relax and escape the pressures of daily life, improving emotional well-being.

Enhanced Responsible Pet Ownership
Dog parks create an environment that encourages responsible pet ownership. By allowing dogs to interact off-leash, owners must be more vigilant about their pet's behavior, ensuring they respond to commands and exhibit proper social manners. Additionally, dog parks often require visitors to comply with certain rules and regulations, such as vaccinations and cleaning up after their dogs. This fosters a sense of responsibility among pet owners and helps in maintaining a safe and clean park for all users.

Safety and Pet-Friendly Spaces
Having a designated dog park ensures that dogs have a secure, enclosed area where they can roam freely without the risk of running into traffic or encountering potentially dangerous situations. This safety element is particularly vital for urban communities where open spaces may be limited. By providing a dedicated spot for dogs, the community becomes more pet-friendly, accommodating those who may not have access to large yards or green spaces at home.

The advantages of having a dog park in your community go beyond just a space for dogs to run and play. These parks enrich the lives of both pets and their human companions, promoting socialization, physical health, and mental well-being. They also help foster a strong sense of community and responsible pet ownership while providing a safe haven for dogs to enjoy the great outdoors."

In Memory

Last year we lost one of our Pooch Playoff's competitors. Jagger was the beloved companion of Kari Dorries. His sweet little bloodhound face will forever steal our hearts. Rest easy sweet boy!
